Rotary Youth Community Service Award 2007
The club was delighted to present this year’s Youth Community Service Award to Sarah Blomfield.

Sarah raised sufficient funds for her help with a year-long project for the care and education of children at the Save the Children Project in Maseru in Lesotho. The club was happy in the knowledge that the Rotary Club of Maioti-Maseru was nearby to offer her any assistance and friendship might need.

She kept in very close touch with us throughout the year with regular letters about her work with the children , and the exciting things going on around her. She received pocket money, which went towards buying and cooking food, although some weeks it didn’t stretch to meat! All the children, whose ages ranged from 1 to 17 years, were there because they had been abandoned, orphaned or abused, although a few do get reunited with their families.

This was certainly no holiday, and the club had been pleased to support her financially in a small way. On her return she was able to give us a wonderful talk on her experiences, which made such a difference to her life as well as those of the children
