Camberley Rotary Club held their annual Stroke Awareness day on Saturday 28 April in the Main Square when members of the public were invited to have a free blood pressure check.
Five hundred and twenty four shoppers took advantage of the opportunity to have a check, over fifty more than last years total. Amongst those checked were Michael Gove, Member of Parliament for Surrey Heath and a member of the Camberley Rotary club and Councillor Keith Bush, Mayor of Surrey Heath.

Volunteer nurses from Upper Gordon Road Surgery were kept continuously busy all day as members of the Club ushered shoppers to the checking area.
Derek Dearmer, Chairman of the Club's Community Service team said “We are very happy to have provided this valuable service to local residents, joining clubs throughout the Country who have arranged similar checks to help recognise the value of keeping control of blood pressure levels to reduce the incidence of strokes, heart attacks and other related illnesses. Our thanks go to the nursing team, Boots Chemist and to the Centre management and staff, without whose help, the day would not have been possible.
